How I intend my website to look:

Production - Website Development

My Website development consisted of choosing different designs and importing photos. The first screenshot is an original photo that I took on a holiday to South Africa. As the image is from a high height and shows a city and the ocean, I believe it had suitable connotations of the Universe. However, the colours did not suit my intended colour palette. I continued to play around with images for the home page, that reach a wider audience and would appeal to different readers. I am yet to decide on this image.

Production - Developing a Logo

When creating my website, I was keen to create a strong brand identity that was clear throughout my products. Therefore, creating an original logo that was present on the website and online social media accounts, as well as the magazine would build this brand identity.
As the fashion magazine is targeted at 16-25 year olds, I wanted the logo to be fun and bright whilst being sophisticated. I played around with different designs, but came to the conclusion of using a fashion based image/design. I chose a bare dress manikin as it was not gender specific and clearly related to the fashion industry.
The colour palette I chose was black, grey and pale pink, which matches well with the website. The black colour is bold and modern which compliments the delicate pink well.
I used the website, logo maker, which was easy and free.

Production - Deciding on the colour palette

For each of my products I have gone with a colour palette that consisted of 2-3 colours on the cover and contents pages. For example on the Festival Issue the palette was orange and purple, and for the Tiffany Issue it was turquoise, pink and black. However, I could not decide whether to have the same design as the first cover, and have the "July 2018" and "Features" in the pink colour. Therefore, I compared both covers when the writing was pink and black, and came to the decision that black looks more sophisticated and less busy.

Production - Contents Pages as of 25/9/18

Production - Development of Contents Pages

These screenshots show the development of my contents pages, where I have changed the photos I use, as well as adapting the copy on the pages.

Production - Development of the Festival Cover

Here is evidence of the changes I made of the Festival Cover. I played around with the positioning of the coverlines colours, and magazine name, and came to the conclusion of using the colour scheme of white, orange and purples, as these colours are present in the image used.

Production - Creating the Festival Cover

Having completed the majority of my cover lines I layered on a few different photos I wanted to use.
Therefore I could see, with the cover lines on, which photo looked better.

Planning - Favourite Tiffany Photos

These are a election of my favourite images taken in New York for the Tiffany Issue. These images evoke luxury and have strong intertextuality of Audrey Hepburn and Breakfast at Tiffany's. Therefore, when looking at the cover, the audience would easily recognise the reference.
The lighting in these photos are suitable for a cover and I used natural lighting.

Planning - Favourite Festival Photos

Here are a selection of my favourite images for the Festival Issue, as the lighting has suitable connotations of summer and festivals. The blue sky contrasts well to the models hair, as well as in a few of the images, the lighting reflects the glitter on her face nicely.

Planning - Photoshoot Pitch

Planning - Summary of Findings

I will complete two different magazine covers and content pages, using two different models with contrasting looks in order to represent diverse fashion styles.

For my first cover I have chosen to create a Breakfast at Tiffany's/Audrey Hepburn inspired cover that represents an upmarket 1960s style of fashion, that references the era. My upcoming trip to New York has inspired this choice, as 5th Avenue Tiffany's is featured in the film. Hepburn was, and still is a fashion icon, that the majority of the target audience recognise and therefore I believe having this theme for my first cover will be original and well received.

My second cover will be themed around festivals, as with the target audience, these music events are extremely popular. I intend to feature two to three different looks within the magazine, representing different fashion looks within the festival style, contrasting to the luxurious Tiffany theme. The magazine will include varying festival looks under a budget which reaches a different area of the target audience.

I will continue to research both themes throughout this process in order to successfully produce two contrasting magazine editions as well as a website, reaching diverse fashion groups within the target audience.
